IELTS Listening Test

The IELTS exam is available in two formats

Academic and General Training

Listening

The listening section consists of four recorded monologues and conversations. Candidates listen to these recordings and answer a series of questions based on them.

Reading

In the reading section, candidates are presented with three long texts extracted from books, journals, magazines, and newspapers. They answer a variety of question types to demonstrate their reading comprehension skills.

Speaking

The speaking section is a face-to-face interview with a certified examiner. It consists of three parts: an introduction and interview, a long turn where candidates speak on a particular topic, and a discussion related to the topic in Part 2.

Writing

The writing section includes two tasks. Task 1 requires candidates to describe visual information (e.g., charts, graphs, diagrams), while Task 2 requires candidates to write an essay in response to a given prompt.

IELTS Test Format

The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) test format includes four main sections: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
  • Listening (30 minutes): You will listen to four recordings of native English speakers and then write your answers to a series of questions. The recordings include conversations, monologues, and academic lectures or discussions.
  • Reading (60 minutes): The Reading section consists of three long passages with tasks or questions. The texts are taken from books, newspapers, magazines, and online resources written for a non-specialist audience.
  • Writing (60 minutes): The Writing section requires you to complete two tasks. Task 1 involves describing visual information (e.g., graphs, charts, or diagrams), and Task 2 requires you to respond to a point of view, argument, or problem.
  • Speaking (11-14 minutes): The Speaking test is a face-to-face interview with a certified examiner. It is divided into three parts: introduction and interview, a short speech, and a discussion.
